I love this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson and his take on our society trying to shape us into a pigeonhole that does not allow for our originality and authenticity. Our world is so reliant on defining us by our roles, possessions and achievements. But is that who WE truly are?
We are so much more than our roles as parents, siblings, or children. We are so much more than our professions. We are so much more than just Australians, New Zealanders, etc. We are so much more than lovely, worrying, and busy people. (You get the picture.)
These may describe an earthly aspect of us, but from a spiritual perspective, these are still roles we play. Nothing has brought this home to me more than my latest therapies, which deal with many different parts that make us who we are.
There are so many layers that when we pull them back, we can even be surprised at what sits at the very core of our being.
At the age I am now, I have come to realise that even our soul is mutable. It shifts and evolves just as we do.
Our soul does not see the outer layers, but instead, it reads the energy and the aura of another sentient being. It sees beyond the ego and the surface protection.
Our soul feels and picks up vibrational energy and messages that are so often in conflict with the outer coverings or masks that we all wear to some extent.
'Finding Ourselves' is not just a cliche but a journey of self-discovery. It's about finding our true north, feeling unconditional love at our deepest level, and striving for compassion for all sentient beings.
It's about accepting our past mistakes and healing into a sense of wholeness and oneness. It may be my point of view, but most of us want to be free from fear. To be resilient and worthy of joy and happiness.
It's only taken me 61 years to come full circle and remember who I am or who I was meant to be all along.
No, I don't have it all figured out!! I definitely don't wear beige or sensible shoes!! But I do live on my own, I have a cat and a partner I refer to as the 'Silver Fox.'
Something else is going on inside of me. Perhaps you have sensed it, too. It just creeps up on us like those saggy, baggy tuckshop arms!!
You don't have to be 60, either. I believe it is part of the Universal Shift that is expanding our Collective Consciousness.
I don't think I'm alone in experiencing this private weirdness , that in the past, I dare not share with anyone.
It's talking to the earthworms and apologising for disturbing their peace in the soil. It's thanking the butcher birds for singing to me and warning me when the rains coming.
It's wanting to know how you really are. Not the mundane stuff that happens, but the actual, real stuff that makes you cry or makes you smile.
Oh, and then there's talking to my plants, my house and asking it about the energy it holds within the rooms I occupy. Or kissing my dogs Good Night or Good Morning.
Time doesn't feel linear. You remember what it was like in 1989, and you sing at the top of your lungs 80's music, and you’re back at the disco with shoulder pads.
The weirdest part of all is that this feels absolutely normal to me, and I don't care what anyone thinks about it. It's all about discovery and not perfection.
Argh, the freedom of just being OK. So, let's all give ourselves a break from society's pigeonholes and continue to become more of who we are truly meant to be.
Love and Light,
The Spiritual Pathway, Kx
